Meet Amber, Founder of She Bytes Back

I’m Amber Shand, award-winning software engineer, keynote speaker, community builder, and rising voice representing women in tech.

Most importantly for you, I'm leading this uplifting environment for women.

I wouldn’t have started this movement unless I felt like I had to.

I’d heard people talking about issues in the workforce like unequal pay, lack of inclusion and gender diversity, tokenism, favouritism, gatekeeping, and a deficit of role models before I got my first industry job.

“How bad can it be?”, I thought. I was excited. It felt glamorous to me, coming from an Economics and Accounting background.

Something shifted the moment I landed my first role and started seeing brilliant women battle themselves and the world around them.

And I was one of them. Had they hired me by mistake? Despite all my training and even awards, I couldn’t shake the feeling I’d be exposed as a fraud.

Turns out this is way more common than it should be. Imposter syndrome is real, and we need to banish it from our brains and the workplace.

She Bytes Back is your safe space to overcome your fears, learn creative strategies to build your confidence, and positively thrive in this sector.
